Add Songs

There are a variety of ways to import songs into your OnSong library. Choose one from the following options available:

Add

This section gives you the ability to create songs inside of OnSong, or to add existing songs into a book.

• Create New Song opens the Template Chooser so you can pick a starting point for creating a song. If no templates are available, OnSong will open the Song Editor with a blank song. Write your song and tap on the Done button to add a newly written song to your library.
• Existing Songs (not shown) opens the Pick Songs menu to allow you to select songs to add to the selected book. This only appears if a book is selected from the drawer.
• From Other Apps provides information about the Add to OnSong extension that lets you import content from a variety of apps into your OnSong library.
• Scan with Camera lets you use your device's camera to scan paper charts right into your library.

Locations

This section displays storage service locations where you may save files to be imported.

• Dropbox is a popular cloud-based storage service that works great for importing documents from your computer.
• File Sharing allows you to import files from your computer using a USB cable and either iTunes software (Window) or the Finder (macOS). File Sharing is not available when running OnSong on a Mac, but you can manually add Documents or Downloads using the + button at the bottom.
• Files allows you to import files from storage services that are tightly integration with iOS such as those found in the Files app.
• Google Drive is a popular cloud-based storage service that also supports online document editing.
• OnSong^® Drive gives you a place to transfer files with personal or shared files using your OnSong^® account.
• Other lets you import from other remote sources using standard communication protocols like WebDAV, FTP, or from Amazon S3.

Providers

We work with a variety of content providers to easily import your content into OnSong. These require separate subscriptions to access.

• Planning Center is a popular church management service that lets you organize music for your team.
• PraiseCharts gives you access to the PraiseCharts library for chord charts, sheet music, backing tracks, and more.
• SongSelect is a service from CCLI that provides PDF-based and text-based chord charts and lyrics.
• WorshipPlanning.com makes planning worship services easy. Import your events, songs and backing tracks easily into OnSong.
• WorshipReady.com handcrafts worship chord charts in the OnSong file format. These are available through various subscription tiers depending on the number of chord charts you need each month.
• LTC Asaph (not shown) is a provider of worship chord charts for French-speaking congregations.

Edit Mode

You can modify the list of import locations and providers by tapping on the Edit button in the upper right corner.

Context Menu

You can tap and hold (iOS/iPadOS) or right-click (macOS) on an import source to display a context menu to perform additional actions.

• Remove will remove the import source from the list. This can be added again using the + at the bottom right. Only import sources can be removed.
• Rename allows you to change the name of an import source.
