The Stuff You Need
The document tab lets you tweak every lil' thing about how your song looks — low light mode, tint color, font, paper size, margins, the whole nine yards. Basically, we let you make it pretty.
Wrenchy Bits
Tap the wrench icon in the upper left corner to mess with global system settings for how this menu acts up. Heads up: this does NOT change how individual songs look. Srsly.
Tint Mode
Pick a color vibe & OnSong will paint your song in those hues. Totes useful if you're squintin' in bright sun or your eyeballs get all stressed out. These modes flip automatically if Low Light Mode is on. No selection? Cool. OnSong just uses the boring default. Here's your choices:
- Paper = high contrast black & white. Very newspaper vibes.
- Dim = like Paper, but sadder. Lower contrast.
- Sepia = like Dim, but with warm fuzzy feelings. Grandma approved.
- Sky = blue tint overlay to chill out your stressed eyeballs.
Low Light Mode
See that icon to the right of the mode buttons? Tap it to toggle low light mode on & off. You flip it here, it goes system-wide. Everything in OnSong gets the memo. All songs. All menus. No escaping.
Tap & hold the low light button & BOOM — Song Invert Mode context menu shows up. From here you can set low light mode just for this one song, y'know? It's "default" by default, which means the song does whatever the app does. But if you're feelin' rebellious, force this song into dark mode or light mode no matter what the app's doin'. We won't judge.
Font Family
Five buttons up top. Pick your font. Five whole options. You're welcome:
- Sans-Serif is like Helvetica. Clean. Chord charts love it. Default.
- Serif is like Georgia. Easier on some eyeballs. Fancy vibes.
- Handwritten is like Marker. Skinny font = more stuff fits. Math.
- Monospaced is Courier — fixed width. Good for aligning chords if you're that person.
- Custom = ellipsis button where you can dig through your device fonts & pick one. Every. Single. Time. You select it, Custom Font screen comes back. It's a whole thing.
Line Spacing
Wanna cram more onto the screen? Shrink the line spacing. Or give yourself breathing room & expand it. Tap the left & right icons next to any slider to fine-tune like you're defusing a bomb. Range: 0.7 to 1.3 lines. Default: 1.0.
Paper
Sets your virtual page size, which messes with font size. Bigger paper = tinier fonts. Genius design, amirite? Use the icons on the right to flip between portrait & landscape. You're welcome.
Layout
This section controls how your document flows when you're rockin' the R2 Rendering Engine. Three controls. We're generous like that:
Pagination
Continuous scroll (infinite sheet) or break it into fake paper pages. Your call, hotshot.
Columns
One column or two. Two-column mode flows song sections across the page like you're some kinda pro.
Gutter
The space between columns. Pick anywhere from 0" to 1" in 1/16" increments. Live your best life.
Margins
Add padding around your virtual paper edges. Useful for keepin' text visible & givin' space for Hot Corners or Navigation Zones when you're gettin' fancy with section selection. The icon on the right shows which margin you changed: left, right, top, or bottom.
Footer
Set footer size as a % of lyrics font size. Use the button on the right to toggle the footer on & off. Revolutionary.
Everything on this tab except low light mode applies to just this song. We'll get into spreadin' your changes across your whole library in a sec.
